Calling All Christians and Anyone Who Values the First Amendment

This is something that makes me very, very angry:

Michigan Woman Faces Civil Rights Complaint.

Here is the text to the First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Can you see ANY inconsistencies here???

The First Amendment doesn't tell you what youCAN do; it tells the GOVERNMENT what it CANNOT do, and the biggest thing it cannot do is infringe upon your natural rights; natural rights come from God, and cannot be taken away by anything short of force. They can be given away, but they cannot be taken without your consent.
Yet, the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan seems bent on violating the Constitution.

Here is my letter to the city of Grand Rapids; it will likely be tweaked some:

Grand Rapids City Hall
Mayor George Heartwell
300 Monroe Avenue NW
Grand Rapids, MI 49503-2206

Fair Housing Center of West Michigan
Director Nancy Haynes
20 Hall Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507

To Whom it Concerns,

It has come to the attention of freedom loving Constitutionalist everywhere that you plan to violate the First Amendment rights of one of the residents of your beautiful city. I would like to remind you of the text of the First Amendment:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

How do you suppose your case makes any legal sense? Any moral sense?
The resident in question has every, EVERY constitutional right to choose not only who she associates with, but also, what fashion she will practice her religion.

As an American, and as a Christian, I will do everything in my power, with the Internet at my disposal to pass the word, that your fair city is not only unfriendly to the Constitution, but also to Christians if you go forward with this unconstitutional stance. With the speed the Internet affords us, it’s quite possible you will see a drop in tourism numbers as soon as December 1.

Please reconsider the issue; as natural rights are at stake, it’s a losing proposition for the city of Grand Rapids, and for the state of Michigan.

Sincerely,

(my name)
(my city)

Here is the address to the Grand Rapids City Hall; Mayor George Heartwell:

Grand Rapids City Hall
300 Monroe Avenue NW
Grand Rapids, MI 49503-2206

And, the Fair Housing Center; Director Nancy Haynes:

Fair Housing Center of West Michigan
20 Hall Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507

Feel free to use my letter as a template if you wish, but PLEASE, let's flood the Grand Rapids City Hall and the Fair Housing Center with letters.
It is this type of instance where our voices must be heard; the Progressive mindset, the destructive notion of political correctness must be stamped out and our Republic must be restored; one city hall at a time.

More Than Meets the Eye

An article from the National Review Online; I have bolded my remarks at the end:
"The DISCLOSE Act and the NRA: Some Bad News [Hans A. von Spakovsky]

"Just as opposition was building in the House to the unconstitutional and burdensome DISCLOSE Act, which is intended to help Democrats in the November election by stifling the political speech of corporations and many non-profit advocacy organizations (but not unions), the NRA has apparently sold out.

"Politico and others are reporting that the NRA has reached a deal to withdraw its opposition to the bill in exchange for an exemption for the NRA from its disclosure provisions. The exemption would apply to “organizations which have qualified as having tax exempt status under section 501(c)(4) of the tax code for each of the 10 years prior to making a campaign-related disbursement, that had 1 million or more dues-paying members in the prior calendar year, that had members in each of the 50 states, that received no more than 15 percent of their total funding from corporations or labor organizations, and that do not use any corporate or union money to pay for their campaign-related expenditures.”

"There aren’t too many organizations that will fit within this exemption, but I understand the NRA thinks it is one of those that will. This exemption will not apply to small, less powerful 501(c)(4) organizations, which will be hit the hardest by the onerous, burdensome, and expensive disclosure requirements of the DISCLOSE Act, but it will apply to the large, well-funded and well-connected NRA.

"So, the NRA may end up providing the lobbying grease that allows this noxious and partisan piece of legislation to slide through the House, something that I seriously doubt most of the individual members of the NRA (who are strong believers in the First Amendment as well as the Second) would agree with."

This is disturbing on several levels; I would encourage you to write to the NRA, even if you aren't a member, they need to understand that America is at stake, not JUST the voice of the NRA. It tells me that, contrary to what I have believed, the NRA is looking out for NRA members, not America at large. I understand that America at large doesn't pay dues, but we need to help them understand this has broader ramifications, and making a deal with the devil NEVER turns out well.

Doesn't Anyone Remember the First Amendment??

I don't care what side of the aisle you sit on or whether you sit IN the aisle, it behooves us ALL to care about the First Amendment. Any one of us could be next.

Conservative Kiosk Owner Denied New Lease at North Carolina Mall
Tuesday , July 28, 2009

By Joshua Rhett Miller

ADVERTISEMENT The owner of kiosk that sells conservative merchandise in a North Carolina mall won't get to continue pushing "Impeach Obama" bumper stickers after his lease expires Friday.

The Concord Mills mall decided not to renew its contract with Loren Spivack, who fought to stay in business in the shopping center.

Spivack says his kiosk, Free Market Warrior, is being nudged out for purely political reasons.

After meeting with officials from the Concord, N.C., mall Tuesday afternoon, the two sides could not reach an agreement to keep the 8-foot-long kiosk where it was.

"Mr. Spivack has not agreed to remove the objectionable merchandise and will be moving out of Concord Mills at the end of his lease," a statement from the mall said.

Spivack told FOXNews.com that mall officials specifically asked that three bumper stickers and a T-shirt believed to be linking President Obama with terrorism be removed from the kiosk, including one that read, "Obama Wins and They Celebrate in Iran, Do You Get It?"

Four employees at the kiosk will lose their jobs at the end of business on Friday, Spivack said, but he'll continue selling the merchandise online.

"It was a very difficult decision," Spivack told FOXNews.com. "I really don't want to [leave the mall], but I was even less comfortable having this corporation essentially dictate which criticisms could be made."

The hottest sellers at the kiosk, which has been in the mall for roughly three months, are items that are critical of President Obama, Spivack said.

They include a “Work Harder, Obama Needs the Money” bumper sticker and a T-shirt that lists the top 12 things Obama has been doing as the economy crashes.

Among the other merchandise sold at the kiosk and on its associated Web site are GOP elephant bobblehead dolls, a Republican president jigsaw puzzle and baby bibs that say, “My parents chose life. Thanks Mom and Dad!”

Asked if he felt targeted by mall officials due to those items, Spivack replied, “There’s no question. There’s no issue other than the material we’re selling.”

The brouhaha began, he said before his request was denied, when someone wrote a letter to the editor in the Charlotte Observer criticizing his business for promoting racism and sexism.

“This apparently got the attention of the national management,” Spivack told FOXNews.com. “They came down with a decision that we had to leave and that our lease would not be renewed when it expired.”

Spivack said he met briefly with mall manager Roy Soporowski on Sunday, the same day about 100 people rallied in front of the mall to support him and his right to the sell politically-charged merchandise.

“We didn’t come to any conclusions, but we agreed to speak again [Monday],” Spivack said. “We’d obviously like to stay, that would be very positive.”

Soporowski did not respond to several interview requests on Monday. A spokeswoman for Simon Property Group, which owns the mall, declined to be interviewed for this report.

Spivack wouldn't say how much he pays to rent the kiosk, citing a condition of his contract. And while the future of his business is currently in jeopardy, the controversy has had a noticeable benefit.

“Sales have definitely picked up,” he said. “Simon Malls clearly did me an unintentional favor.”

Something to Keep in Mind

I'm re-posting this video; to those who have watched it, I apologize.

I discovered today that Blogger apparently has removed it for "Terms of Use Violations." I thought it might be You Tube, but lo and behold, it's still running there.

Freedom of Speech is guaranteed under our Constitution.

Here is my previous post on The First Amendment.

Make no mistake, they will try to silence those of us who speak out and speak up. It's not politically correct to tell it like it is anymore, but I've made a covenant to be honest in all my dealings, therefore, I can't do anything BUT tell it like it is; myself and others like me will be targeted for our honesty.
I don't say this to sound like a martyr; other's who've gone before me have earned that obeisance. No, I say this because it's going to be all of us who stand up for truth that *they* will want to silence.

Hymn # 243 (and it IS HYMN number, not PAGE number :D ):

"...In the fight for right let us wield a sword, The mighty sword of Truth."
All we can do is tell the truth, but the Adversary can't have us out there exercising out First Amendment Rights; those inspired God given rights.

Now, for clarity, I can't say that this video is 100% accurate; what I want to highlight is the fact that we have the RIGHT to speak, and say what we will. This video represents my personal views, and I have the RIGHT to share that; I honestly believe it to BE true.

My plea is this, Please don't be afraid to speak the truth, no matter what, it's our only hope.
