Thomas Paine, Patriot

I've heard a lot of Democrats say lately that they want an "up or down vote" on the health care bill; yet they keep delaying the vote.
Do you see what's happening? They are bullying and harrassing the members of their party who do not want to vote for this clearly unconstitutional bill. There is no where in the Constitution that talks about providing ANYTHING for EVERYONE; not ANYWHERE.
They think we are too stupid to know what's best, to know what the Constitution says. They have made it clear that "they" know best; just listen to Nancy Pelosi:

HUH? I'm not sure about her, but I KNOW I'm not that stupid. Period.

I feel the need to leave you with an excerpt from "The Crisis", a pamphlet by Thomas Paine. I know you've all heard this before, or at least the first line, but I feel it's quite fitting given the rise of tyranny in the last few years, but particularly in light of the legislative debacle taking place right now in Washington.

"THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated."

Please, don't be a summer soldier or a sunshine patriot; the storms are gathering and we, each one of us, must decide which side of the Constitution we will come down on; will it be the version the Founding Father's gave us, or the version that is shredded and nearly unrecognizable?

Woah. That's one amazing quote. Doesn't she have an aid or SOMEONE who is supposed to tell her not to say stuff like that??? Too bad for her. The hand is tipped, and now folks know. If they're listening. Blows my mind though.

In case there are concerns about this quote being out of context, as there have been in some of the facebook discussions I'm following, here is the full text of her speech, given on the 9th of this month.

The first half or so is about the Stimulus. She starts talking health care a little more than 1/2 way down the page. The quote in question is about 3/4 of the way down, and it doesn't look to me like it lost anything at all in being taken out of context - just gained a whole lot of clarity.

Here's what I would consider to be the relevant portion of the speech:

"You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

She expects us to just let them do what they do, and no questions asked.

It's about "diet not diabetes"? So she's basically very, very excited that she get's to control what we eat and what we drink, and eventually maybe even how much sleep we get!
This may be the end of America as we know it, and the beginning of the End.
